Sheltering Tree Values

We Believe…

Every person is made in the image of God and bears the imprint of the Almighty.

     Therefore we will…

  • Treat every person with dignity and respect, regardless of race, income or gender
  • Respect people through honoring confidentiality
  • Not judge people, understanding that we have not walked in their shoes

We Believe...

Every believer has been gifted and called by God to minister to the church and the world. It is in serving others that we ourselves can find life, healing and purpose. However, we also believe that for many people, finding the right place to serve takes time, safety, and training.

        Therefore we will…

  • Work to place people in areas where they can use their gifts and passions
  • Train people well so they can minister with excellence
  • Send people in teams, providing a context for community, support and learning

We Believe...

Every person has been impacted by the fall. Sin affects us deeply; not just spiritually, but often emotionally, physically, relationally and even financially. Yet, the power of the cross provides hope that healing is possible and restoration is God’s primary agenda.

        Therefore we will….

  • Communicate clearly that the need for help and community is normative, not shameful
  • Seek to address people’s needs as holistically as possible
  • Expect that we all need care, including those ministering, and seek to provide avenues of nurtur

We Believe...

God has been working sovereignly from the beginning of time. He is the source of all healing, power and love.

     Therefore we will…

  • Rely on the prior and continuing work of the Holy Spirit both in the life of the one coming for assistance and those ministering.
  • Trust that no meeting is an accident, but has been ordained by God, with all the necessary resources already present
  • Minister out of connection to God, not our own resources, gifts or energy
